Dubai aims to ensure a stable supply of clean & sustainable energy and promote alternate energy sources like gas supply/LNG, clean coal, natural gas, utility scale solar and import/nuclear. More specifically, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2030 targets an increase of the share of renewable electricity produced to 1% by 2020 and 5% by 2030.
Demand Side Management (DSM) strategy is one of the flagship programs of DIES 2030 and it aims to reduce Dubai's electricity and water consumption by 30% by 2030.
Dubai is focused on achieving sustainable growth through effective waste management, green mobility and investment in clean energy and smart technologies. These pillars are supported by key enablers such as fostering an environment conducive to innovation and discovery, promoting R&D into new technologies and building supportive policy and regulatory frameworks. DIES 2030 is also facilitated through proper funding and financing for key projects and exploring project models like public-private partnerships (PPP) and independent power producers (IPP).
